In the world of SFO, some years are harder than others. But to be honest, it’s been a while since we had a year which was better than its predecessor.
Our primary weapon against the lack of SFO updates was last year’s Strike Team. It was the sword that would cut through work like a KATANA! And alas, events beyond anyone’s control have turned our once beloved mega-weapon-strike-force, into a mere plastic butter-knife.
TotalReincarnation was the first to feel the wrath of the outrageous fortune, as his work-place first rode-him like a work horse, and then got rid of him altogether without proper compensation for the tireless and endless work that Total has performed for their company. It was then left up to NinjaRyu2009 to carry the torch (which he did) until even he was burned-out by the slings and arrows of life.
But in the time that we had, our brave Strike-Force Warriors did manage to discover a number of details about Parsec, such as that it’s an unfinished piece of technology, with it’s own set of headaches (on top of the ones we already have to deal with thanks to circa 2k1 Macromedia Director Adobe Disaster 8.5)
Then came added difficulties of blockattack and his continued incarceration. At first, things didn’t seem that bad. Just as we hoped, I received my tax refund earlier this year, and just as promised, I forwarded a large portion of my refund straight to blockattack’s PayPal address, in addition to $100 from our good-friend Murder-Ink. This, combined with $100 from Catman20, and another $100 from system4, and another $100 from 1hitta, and $200 from BKBATMANZ has allowed SFO to raise exactly $1400 USD towards getting blockattack out of jail (and this $1400 number also represents exactly 14 months of SFO hosting). But what we didn’t realize is that we weren’t just trying to help blockattack … but that SFO was taking on the state of Louisiana.
After getting all the help he could get from his mom, girl and brother (who were able to raise roughly $5550 in addition to the $1400 from SFO, and another $50 from his x-box friend) blockattack now has 7 grand. But after endless searches for a lawyer that would be willing to take his case, the cheapest paid attorney blocky could find would cost NO LESS than $10,000 USD.
Then things got even worse, when blockattack’s original charge was COMPLETELY CHANGED to Aggravated Battery (aka: a charge not pertaining to blocky’s case AT ALL) which would point to the fact that the original charges were NOT real to begin with, and yet blocky is still kept behind bars, without a fair trial, for almost 9 months now! All of blocky’s original charges are no longer even mentioned. In fact, I used to be able to find them online via The Googles, but not anymore! All records of the original charges blocky has been arrested on have now been WIPED CLEAN! Instead, he is being held DESPITE facts, DESPITE witnesses, DESPITE phone-evidence and even DESPITE government-test-evidence. All of this overwhelming evidence would set blocky FREE, if this evidence was NOT ignored by his public lawyer! In fact, when speaking to his public defender, blockattack was literally told: “They don’t have a shred of evidence against you, but I’ve seen people convicted on less.”
So is being held without bail and NO trial legal now? Only if you get arrested in Louisiana! Just a quick search on The Googles will point that even prior to the COVIDS, roughly 1,300 People Have Been Held in Jail for 4 Years Without trial in the “great” state of Louisiana. This information comes straight from the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association, who have said, and I quote: “Obviously four years is a gross violation of [constitutional] rights. Without knowing the specific details … [The Sheriffs’ Association] can’t tell what rights are being violated in each case.”
NEXT UP: we have no real plan for blockattack. His family is NOT able to help him further (even after maxing out their credit-cards, selling their old cars for scrap, and canceling blocky’s life insurance). His friends have abandoned him. His public defender is a joke (who wants to see blocky do 5+ years behind bars by pleading “guilty” to bogus charges which seem to change every month). Blocky’s only hope is a real lawyer, but NO ONE is willing to touch his case for less than $10,000 USD.
And for us … as a community, this fight and all that is happening with blockattack have literally bankrupted SFO 🙁

But alas, our next Monthly Operational billing cycle is coming up on May 13th (lucky thirteen) and SFO is currently $390 behind, as we stand to be disconnected from our web-hosting services for non-payment 🙁
Over the years, we have managed to lower the monthly up-keep of SFO to $100 USD even. But because our community has been struggling for the past several years, I have always relied on myself to cover at least HALF of that number each month. But in the middle of all this, I was personally hit hard with some bad news of my own. Someone in my close family is now in extra need of eye surgery, and the added medical bills have prevented me from contributing towards SFO’s hosting for the past several months.
- BONUS LIFE TIP FROM TMyApps: When talking to surgeons, just remember that ALL they know is how to carve meat. So if they give you any diagnosis other than; “YOU NEED TO GO UNDER THE KNIFE” …. then the surgeon won’t get paid … and you and I both know that the surgeons GOTS to get paid driving those 3 Mercedes!
That said, my life these days have become an ongoing nightmare of dealing with the doctors, nurses, surgeons, experts, and all other manner of medical/hospital staff, which has left me with very, very, VERY little time for SFO in my life. I have faith that things WILL get better, but I feel as though it will take more time than we originally anticipated.
Then, while NOT giving up hope, and STILL believing that “things would get better”, I was just recently hit with $350 bill for some sort of eye test. The nurse literally pushed a few buttons for 5 minutes and took the money for using the machine that her clinic has purchased years ago. In short it costs them NOTHING, but they just love to make an extra $350. And when I gave them the cash (doctor’s like cash, straight to their pocket) that’s when I realized that SFO was in real deep trouble, because I personally, no longer have anything left to spare towards SFO’s monthly operations 🙁
Our SFO battle vs. The Great State of Louisiana has allowed us to raise a record-breaking $1400 towards blockattack. In the end (even with the help from his family) we still came up short for getting blocky the $10,000 that he needed for a real lawyer, and it ended up costing our community exactly 14 months of SFO hosting (something that we could have really, really, REALLY used RIGHT NOW).
But such is life … sometimes you win … sometimes you lose … and sometimes you can’t even remember the last time you’ve won … and yet other times, you are simply added to the Louisiana statistics of thousands of prisoners, who are being held without trial against ALL constitutional rights, year after year.
Dreams Don’t Die … unless you are incarcerated in Louisiana.
